Where to surf in Anglet?
VVF is the first beach you will find when coming down from Biarritz, at the foot of the lighthouse. This rather large beach offers great waves when the conditions are right. Suitable for all surfers, you still need to be careful of the currents that could carry you away, from one side of the beach to the other.
Club Beach and Golden Sands Beach are among the best spots you can find on the coast. If there are no waves there, you certainly won’t find any elsewhere in the area. Located right next to each other and separated by a breakwater, these beaches welcome both experienced and beginner surfers. Bonus: There are numerous bars and restaurants by the water, as well as free-access beach volleyball courts on Golden Sands Beach.
Corsaires Beach is decidedly geared towards young people. It marks the transition between the urban beaches of the Chambre d’Amour district and the more “natural” beaches in the north of Anglet. The Corsaires spot is protected by long rocky groynes. These groynes allow various sandbanks to settle and offer good waves all year round.
Dunes Beach, bordering the famous Chiberta golf course, is highly popular with surfers and is certainly the most “wild” of our coastline. Its unique access through an underground passage and the absence of a developed parking area make it less crowded. Dunes Beach and its neighbor Ocean Beach form a single beach break. Its tubular peaks, comparable to those of its more famous sister Cavaliers, are often less crowded.
